The Heart of Goodwill
Welcome to our home, a place filled with love, laughter, and endless possibilities. Our space includes four cozy bedrooms where the children rest and dream, a playroom where their imagination runs wild, and a dedicated volunteer room for those who join us on our journey.
In the heart of our home, we have a kitchen and outside kitchen, where meals are prepared with care, a laundry area to keep everything running smoothly, and an office for organizing all that makes Goodwill thrive. We also have a special donations area where we store items received from generous supporters, ensuring they reach the families and children in need.
Beyond the walls, we’ve created spaces for the children to grow their own gardens, play soccer, build sandcastles, and simply be kids. Our communal area is where we come together to eat, learn, and share stories, making it the heart of our home, a space of connection, growth, and shared moments.
This is more than just a house. It’s a haven, where every corner is filled with warmth, community, and the love that makes Goodwill truly special.
Our playroom is a space filled with energy, creativity, and learning. It’s where the children can relax, play, and enjoy time together. This room also houses our TV for entertainment and educational programs, along with all the children’s school supplies, books, and learning materials, ensuring they have everything they need to thrive academically and creatively.
The dining area is a central space where the children come together to eat, study, and play games. It’s a place for shared meals, learning, and fun, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Our garden is a shared responsibility and a source of pride for all our children. They actively take part in planting, watering, and caring for the crops, ensuring a steady supply of fresh produce for our meals. From crisp lettuce and ripe tomatoes to flavourful onions and sweet mangoes, the garden provides both nourishment and a valuable learning experience, teaching responsibility, sustainability, and the joy of growing food.
The laundry area is where both the children and our team work together to keep clothes and linens clean. It’s an important part of daily life, teaching the children responsibility and essential life skills while ensuring everyone has fresh, clean clothing and bedding.
Our kitchen is more than just a place where meals are prepared, it’s a space where we nurture and care for our children’s well-being. We carefully plan a weekly menu that ensures balanced, nutritious meals while accommodating different dietary needs and restrictions. Whether a child requires a special diet due to health reasons, we make sure every meal is wholesome and inclusive. The kitchen is often filled with fresh fruits and home-baked goods, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
These are the dormitories for the children, providing a safe and comfortable space to rest. Each room includes fans, mosquito nets, custom wardrobe cupboards, and three bunk beds.
We have thoughtfully decorated the entire children’s home to create a vibrant and supportive environment, ensuring our children feel safe, inspired, and cared for. Working alongside local artists and international volunteers, we have brought colour, creativity, and warmth into every space, making it a true home for the children.

Exploring Our Town
Our adventures go beyond our home, giving the children the chance to experience the beauty and excitement of Vilanculos. We spend afternoons at the red dunes, climbing, running, and enjoying a picnic with a view. At the lakes, we cast our fishing lines, sharing stories and celebrating every catch. The beach is our playground, where we play soccer, swim, and soak up the sunshine.
We also take part in local events, joining in the fun and connecting with our community. Some days, we unwind at Vilanculos Beach Lodge, enjoying pizza, laughter, and a chance to relax. And for a special adventure, the children get to go horseriding, exploring the shoreline on horseback and making unforgettable memories.
These moments allow the children to be free, active, and joyful, experiencing all the fun and wonder their town has to offer.
