The Story of Us

Our Story

Our Journey

In 2021, Jeffrey Henseler, in collaboration with Passport Legacy, established GoodWill Vulnerable Children’s Home. This sanctuary is dedicated to offering vulnerable children a secure and nurturing environment where their fundamental rights are upheld, their emotional well-being is fostered, and their education is prioritized. Supported by the committed GoodWill team, the children are given a home where they can thrive and grow into strong, independent adults.

Our Mission

Our children’s home houses up to 48 children between the ages of 7 and 18 years where they are lovingly looked after 24/7 by the GoodWill team. The running costs of the vulnerable children’s home are incurred by Passport Legacy whose focus was to create the first vulnerable children’s home of its kind in the Vilanculos, Inhambane district.

Opening Doors

Goodwill’s Journey Begins

February 8th, 2023, marks the day Goodwill was born, the day we first met the children who are now part of our family. It was more than just an opening; it was the beginning of a journey filled with love, hope, and commitment to making a difference.

From that very first moment, we knew this was more than a project. It was a home. A place where children would be nurtured, families would find support, and a community would grow stronger together.

Since that day, we have built more than just a space, we have built connections, created memories, and laid the foundation for a future where every child feels safe, loved, and supported.

This is where it all began. This is Goodwill. And together, we continue the journey.

Our Partners

With Gratitude to Our Local Government Partners

None of this would be possible without the Vilanculos local government and its representatives, whose support has been instrumental throughout our journey. Their contribution, including the land on which our centre now stands, has made it possible for us to create a space of safety, care, and opportunity. Today, that space includes a welcome centre, kitchen, four dormitories, caretaker accommodation, a volunteer dormitory, bathrooms, and an open-air seating area that serves as both a dining space and a study zone.

Additional Support from Consultório Médico Esperança

Consultório Médico Esperança, E.I (CME) is a private clinic (currently expanding to become a hospital) managed by the owner, a Mozambique national. As part of CME’s corporate social responsibility it is investing in the local community with acts that among others include its support with free outpatient medical treatment to GoodWill Mozambique’s children. CME is committed to being part of the solution to local problems using its abilities and resources that are local and native.
